Our Collaborators
The TSBM is used by partners around the U.S. and abroad to train junior scientists, plan strategies to increase research impact, engage the community in identifying impacts, evaluate the impact of their work, and disseminate impact to a variety of audiences.
Duke University Clinical & Translational Science Institute

The Duke University Clinical & Translational Science Institute is using the TSBM to:
- Evaluate the impact of pilot projects funded by the CTSI by incorporating the TSBM into Accelerator funding applications.
- Utilize and further develop TRACER, an online platform to track important milestones and translational real-world benefits of CTSI programs and projects.
- Create, test, and validate a standardized TSBM coding tool developed by the University of California Irvine Institute for Clinical & Translational Science. This tool uses information obtained through a survey based on the TSBM framework and is administered about CTSA-funded projects.
- Advance the use of the TSBM as a structured evaluation framework to systematically assess translational progress, outcomes, and societal impact.
- Disseminate impact case studies of their work using the TSBM model. Highlighted case studies, and a link to all case studies, are included below.
- Biopsychosocial Determinants of Pain in Sickle Cell Disease
- The ADAPTABLE Study: Aspirin Dosing: A Patient-Centric Trial Assessing Benefits and Long-Term Effectiveness
- Oxysterols for Treatment of Perinatal Brain Injury
- From Brain Tissue to Blood Tests: Minimally Invasive Biomarker Innovation for Early Alzheimer’s Diagnosis
IRI (Implementation Research Institute)

The Implementation Research Institute, a mentored training network for implementation scientists, is using the TSBM to:
- Train junior investigators to identify the broader health impacts of their work, map pathways of impact for their research, and communicate about how implementation science can improve health services and change communities
- Disseminate impact case studies and impact profiles to showcase the impact of IRI fellows’ and alums’ work and the impact of the IRI itself as a mentored network:
- View IRI Impact Highlights 2024, a two-page summary of three TSBM case studies from the 2024 cohort showcasing the impact of IRI fellows’ and alums’ work.
- View IRI Impact Highlights 2023, a three-page summary of five TSBM case studies from the 2023 cohort showcasing the impact of IRI fellows’ and alums’ work.
- View IRI Impact Highlights 2022, a two-page summary of four TSBM case studies from the 2022 cohort showcasing the impact of IRI fellows’ and alums’ work.
